breast cancer

Update on my health!!

I haven’t posted for some time so anyone following me I do apologise. I was toying with the idea of closing the site but have now had a change of heart!!

My cancer and treatment are all but a distant memory now. As I mentioned before about the peripheral neuropathy, this is a lot better and I am now left with 2 ‘trigger’ fingers which can be painful at times. I think the knitting helps with this so have been beavering away for some time.

SOOOOOOOOO…………………….Coronavirus??? How on earth did this happen? I thought I was quite fit and healthy now but no, NHS have decided I am on the ‘vulnerable’ or ‘high risk’ category. So, I was sent home from work Tuesday before last and am not allowed back for the foreseeable future. How do I feel?? Not good. Most of the time I would love a few days off (who wouldn’t?) however, the choice has been taken way from me and I am finding it quite hard to cope with. I also didn’t think I would be still vulnerable from cancer but apparently I am, but I think my age has a lot to do with it as well.

However, I was late with the October infusion as I suddenly went down with kidney stone problems and what a farce that was. GP diagnosed me and referred me to Urologist, as usual long wait to see them. The pain was so bad I was advised to go to A&E (before the pandemic), so spent the day there as was passed from pillar to post and eventually advised I would need the stone removed and to come back next day for procedure!! Went back at 7am and had the usual blood tests etc and then waited and waited and waited!!!! You can imagine, no food or drink since the night before and THEN the consultant arrives at about 2pm and decides the pain has gone so won’t need the op!!! ARGHHHHH. So cut a long story short I was eventually referred for the removal of the stone as they found 2, one in the kidney itself and the other on the move. By the time the appointment came through about 6 weeks later went for the procedure and guess what???? The stone had already passed and they couldn’t do anything about the one in the kidney. So, all that for nothing!!! Not a happy bunny as I’m sure you can imagine. As for treatment I am still having the zoledronic acid infusions and still seeing the Oncologist regularly.
