breast cancer

Last Zometa, Hooray!!!!

Its been a long and sometimes frustrating 4 years, since diagnosis to the finish line. At last I have had the last infusion of Zoledronic Acid (Zometa). I had this last week and am still feeling some side effects which is aching and bone pain. To be honest sometimes I have to wonder if it is the infusion or just old age!!! Probably a bit of both.

I am still taking one Letrozole tablet a day which I will be taking for 10 years As my breast cancer was hormone related which relies on the hormone oestrogen to grow. This type of breast cancer is called oestrogen receptor-positive (ER-positive) breast cancer. Letrozole reduces the amount of oestrogen in the body. It blocks an enzyme (a type of protein) that helps produce oestrogen in the fatty tissues of the body. Before a woman goes through the menopause, oestrogen is also made in the ovaries. You may have other types of hormone therapy if you have not been through the menopause.

And so ends your biology lesson for the day!!!!

I have had so much going on which is why I have not updated the blog lately. All ills I’m afraid.

Currently I am having tests for my Spinal Stenosis and the circulation problems in my legs. I have now had 3 different types of scans, numerous blood tests and cannulas and feel like a pin cushion!! However, I have an appointment with consultant in November and hopefully they will then know if it is circulation problems or problems with my back. Once they know I might be able to start some kind of treatment to help with my walking. That’s all I want to do is go for a nice leisurely stroll with DH now and again. Not much to ask!!!
