My personal reviews of yarns I have used

Don’t forget to check out my website for unique baby knits. Follow this link: https://www.uniquebabyknits.com/

This is where I will be reviewing yarns that I have used either now or previously. Please be aware these are my own personal reviews. I hope it may help when deciding to buy certain yarns. I think we have all bought yarns, online especially, and then found it not up to the standard we expected. There is nothing worse than excitedly receiving yarn for a project and then to be disappointed. I know I have.

Sirdar Snuggly Baby Crofter

I don’t often using acrylic yarns as most of them are not good for a baby’s sensitive skin and tend to be itchy and hard when washed however, I can always make an exception for Sirdar Snuggly yarns as they are soft and hardwearing, this is why it is called the nations favourite. I love the self-patterning crofter which is delightful to knit with and from a mum’s point of view – easy care, just pop in the washing machine!

 Millamia Naturally Soft Merino

So, this is the first time I have used Millamia yarn. I do know that it is 2 young Swedish girls (I think!!) who started the company, so thought it was time to give it a try. I only ordered one ball in white of the 100% merino wool. To my surprise this yarn is lovely to knit with,  it gives a beautiful stitch definition, feels gorgeous once worked up and holds it’s shape really well too. Perfect for babies’ cardigans, hats, bootees etc which is what I used it for and it also has a lovely sheen to the wool. It’s not scratchy or rough. It is light, easy, feels good, and a pleasure to work with. Think this might be my go-to yarn after DB Cashmerino.

Sirdar Snuggly Soothing

Sirdar Snuggly Soothing

My personal review. I have knitted two baby sets with this yarn (which you can find under ‘My Projects‘). I quite like Sirdar Snuggly so thought this would be fine. I originally bought the yarn for the blanket however, had so much left over I carried on knitting and buying more!! Sirdar’s Snuggly Soothing is a super-soft, fully-relaxed fine micron acrylic that creates a clean lustrous fabric with a silky cotton-like feel. Plus, it’s fully machine washable. The yarn is soft and easy to knit with. I think I have beautiful results for completed sets. Lovely stitch definition. The yarn feels nice in the hand, and lays lovely and even. Its light weight and the lovely pastel colors are wonderul for babies. I would recommend this yarn

Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino

Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino

My personal review For me, Debbie Bliss yarns are my ‘go to’ for all my baby projects. Her Baby Cashmerino is so soft and easy to knit with. It has a great stitch definition and a wonderful drape. The softness is perfect for babies, even those with sensitive skin. Super soft, cosy, and practical, this is a dream of a yarn for all your knits The colours are second to none, every colour you can think off. Of course, it is not just for babies, many people use this yarn for ‘grown up’ knits because its fabulously versatile and hard-wearing. For a premium yarn this is competitively priced however, I often wait for the discounts and then stock up. Debbie Bliss yarns are only available at Lovecrafts now. Phildar Douce

Phildar Douce

My personal review I have never used the Phildar brand before and as this is a slightly fluffy yarn I still found it easy to knit with, bits do come out so you can get a little messy but it was still easier that other fancy yarns I have used previously. So I would recommend this yarn. The pattern is excellent, was slightly more expensive than others but there is a lot of detail and content with pictures to help with the making up. All in all a good experience with both yarn and pattern.

Blue Sky Fibers Sport

Blue Sky Fibers Sport

My personal review BSF sport weight is pure, luxurious, 100% baby alpaca. This yarn is truly scrumptious and an absolute joy to work with. The stitch definition is great and the drape and feel is wonderful. It knits up to all DK patterns (however always check your tension). It has a certain sheen about it and is so, so soft and slightly fluffy?? Not sure if that is the right word!!! but I did notice it in my throat every now and again as you would with mohair however, this is certainly not mohair or anywhere near like it. I have knitted a couple of cardigans and matching hats with this yarn (you can find these in the ‘My Projects’ page. This yarn is humanely obtained from the alpacas that form part of Blue Sky Fibers. I think that the art of any knitting experience is the feel of the yarn. Blue Sky Alpacas is a delight to have in my hands. Silky and creamy to the touch, vibrant and beautiful colors and so easy to knit with.

Please Note: I am not affiliated to any designers, yarn manufacturers etc. These are my own personal experiences and I am sure other people will have totally different views to myself however, that’s great as we all have our own preferences in life!!
