My eBay Shop -(which has now closed)

I have recently done a lot of charity knits and also plenty of knitting for the grandchildren so I thought I would turn the attention to my shop. I had an eBay shop which I have had, on and off, for about 10 years or so. I started by selling wool, needles, patterns and notions. It took a long time to get established, especially with distributors as well as with customers. I persevered and it finally paid off. I am not saying it paid me a wage as I was only doing it part time however, it did do well and I enjoyed the interaction with fellow knitters.

I think the main thing was getting knitters to try out new and more of a premium yarn. I am not a great believer in yarn from Poundland. I know it has its uses, I would use for toys etc. but even toys I’m not sure as the wool is just awful to knit with. I will apologise now if I have upset anyone as that is not my intention and is only my opinion.

When knitting I like to enjoy the feel of the yarn, the drape etc and how the stitch knits up. To me that is the enjoyment of knitting. A perfect example: I have just finished a beautiful little cardigan knitted with Lana Grossa Uno 100% merino (I will be reviewing this on my ‘yarn reviews’ page). Now, I failed to understand the difference in merino wool and cashmere until I started knitting with this yarn. It is quite a heavy yarn and not overly soft. I did finally finish the cardigan and it made me appreciate the difference between 100% wool and merino.

So, to move on about my shop. I am now knitting baby items and selling them in my shop. So far so good, I have had a fair bit of interest and have sold a number of items so, for now, this is what I am concentrating on!!
